" symbol signifies the inch sign.
One inch = 2.54cm
' symbol signifies the foot sign.
One foot = 12 inches or approximately 30cm
A few translations of terms used in my shop:
Fat Quarter or FQ
This is 1/4 of one yard, but measures 18 inches by 22 inches, instead of the 9 inches by 44 inches if you were to request a quarter yard of fabric. This is popular for quilting, patchwork & Zakka projects. These are typically sold in sets of 4-6 in my shop.
Charm Pack
These come in squares in a range of sizes either 4 inches by 4 inches (approximately 10cm by 10cm), 5 inches by 5 inches (approximately 12.7cm by 12.7cm) and 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches (approximately 16.5cm by 16.5cm). These come in a variety of prints to offer the buyer a selection from a range of fabrics without the cost of buying 10+ fat quarters of varying prints. The number of squares per pack varies.
